School Uniforms for Haiti

Today this blog will take a new direction as we begin a new project.  In September, Every Stitch a Prayer was visited by Charlie Elgin, a missionary to Haiti.  He came to share with our sewing ministry the need for school uniforms for the children in Haiti.  Charlie operates an orphanage with 23 children as well as five schools with over 600 children.  These children each need two uniforms, jumpers for the girls and shorts for the boys, which will be worn with polo shirts.  This project will cost us over $10,000.  With God, all things are possible!

We will be using this blog to share how God works out this miracle.

Children in Haiti cannot go to school with a uniform.  They are also very specific about the style and color of their uniforms.  It is a monumental task for our small sewing group and will require the help of other churches (besides Taylor Road Baptist Church) and financial donors.  We operate on donations.  Sound impossible?  With God's help, we can meet this need.  The importance of these uniforms goes beyond their physical need because these children are exposed to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ as they study in their Christian schools.  They take the Gospel message home and their families are effected for all eternity.

And so it begins.......
